Features:

  • Curtain – Generally constructed using 75 x 0.9 mm interlocking laths in galvanised steel roll formed in house.  Lath thickness does depending on Opening Size in accordance with Bodycote  (Warrington Fire) WF Assessment Report No. 181246 Issue 2.  The laths are retained in position using cast iron end locks fitted with galvanised steel rivets.  Refer ‘Steel Lath’ drawing details.
  • Bottom Rail - Rigid inverted ‘T’ section in galvanised steel sections.  Refer ‘Architectural Steel Bottom Rail’ drawings for details.
  • Side Guides and Angles - Side Guides are fabricated from galvanised steel channel roll formed in house and complete with splayed tops.  Side Guides size depends on width of the opening and options 65 x 32 x 3.0 mm and 75 x 32 x 3.0 mm. The Side Guides are bolted to 75 x 50 x 5 mm fixing angles or alternatively to fixing angles of size and thickness to suit the shutter and application.  Refer ‘Architectural Steel Side Guide’ drawing details for options.
  • Roller Drum - Fabricated from mild steel or galvanised tube of appropriate outside diameter and thickness engineered to suit the size and application of the roller shutter and in accordance with Bodycote (Warrington Fire) WF Assessment Report No. 181246 Issue 2.  The assembly incorporates helical torsion springs engineered to counter balance the Curtain, fixed to cast steel roller blocks and a mild steel axle.
  • Bracket Plates - Fabricated from mild or galvanised steel in thickness and size to suit the application and in accordance with Bodycote (Warrington Fire) WF Assessment Report No. 181246 Issue 2.  The Bracket Plates are mounted to the Fixing Angles.  The Bracket Plates are provided with fixing lugs for a Hood.
  • Operation – Motor drive selection is based on torque required to lift the Curtain during its operating cycle. Automatic descent under fire conditions activated by fusible link at 68 degrees C. The gearbox contains a controlled descent mechanism and a brake release cord to close the shutter in the event of a power failure. A solenoid release mechanism is available which provides a manual test and automatic reset facility and can be connected to a fire alarm system (by others). Motors are 415 V and can be activated through a variety of control devices to suit application or customer preference.  Refer ‘Electrical Control Options’ page.  Motors require three phase power plus neutral.  Control circuit is 240 V.
  • Door Locking – Is not recommended for electrically operated roller shutters.
  • Finishes - Galvanised steel items are left in raw form.  Powder Coating in standard available colours is an optional extra and is applied using our in house powder coat line. Laths with Plastisol finish are available as an option.
  • Hoods / Fascias – Hoods are manufactured in house from 20 swg (0.9 mm) galvanised steel sheet.  Fascias cannot be provided with Fire Shutters. Refer ‘Hoods’ drawing details.
  • Weight – Approx 40 kg/m2
